Inspiring Youth Through Music

Funds raised in this project will go to establish Regina El Sistema Music Foundation.

OUR VISION: Regina El Sistema Music Foundation uses music education to help impoverished kids from north central area of Regina achieve their full potential and learn values that favor their growth. Some of these kids will become talented musicians, and source of national pride. We hope to have a childrens orchestra in north central Regina in three years.

Several El Sistema students in Venezuela have gone on to major international careers, including Gustavo Dudamel, soon to be the music director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and the bassist Edicson Ruiz, who at 17 became the youngest musician ever to join the Berlin Philharmonic.

José Abreu is the founder of El Sistema. There is a simple concept behind Abreu's work: for him an orchestra is first and foremost about together-ness, a place where children learn to listen to each other and to respect one another.

The Regina foundation will create music education programs to inspire youth through music. Our mission is to have 3 childrens orchestras in five years. And have 300 youth in music education programs by then.
